My Walgreens Trip – 3/8

I stopped in at Walgreens today, not for the big diaper deal (we’re past that stage), but for some money makers so I could get Children’s Benadryl at a discounted price. If you need diapers and printed the Huggies coupons I mentioned here, you can print more because they’ve been reset.

Today I got $90.26 worth of products at Walgreens. I used several coupons, and spent $9.60 cash and a $10 Register Reward. After getting money back from rebates, I will have spent a total of $4.39 for everything in the photo — less than the price of the Children’s Benadryl that I needed ($6.99 at Walgreens).

Here’s what I got (in three transactions):

TRANSACTION #1

Sambucol Cold & Flu Relief (4) – Made: $8.00
Sale Price: $12.00
Coupons: $10 March Easy Saver Booklet Coupon (x 4 – pick up the booklet when you enter the store) and $4 Internet Printable. You can print as many coupons as you need.
Note: I thought these were $12.99 each. I was not expecting them to ring up at $12.00. I intended to use the $10 RR on this transaction, but came up $4 short.

Children’s Benadryl – Paid: $6.99
No coupons or sales available but we ran out today so I needed to get more. I purchased the Sambucol to get the overage to pay for this.

Axe Shampoo – Paid: $5.99
Qualifies for the March Easy Saver “free after rebate” so I will get this money back.

Friskies 3oz Pouch – Paid: $0.71
Meow Mix 2.75oz Pouch – Paid: $0.63
I purchased both of these because I thought I needed a filler to use the $10 RR. But then I came up short because of the Sambucol.

Whatchamacallit Candy Bar – FREE
Have you seen the monthly product promos that Walgreens has at the checkout counter? Has your cashier asked you if you’d like to purchase the product? I hate upselling and really disliked when I was for an entire month last fall if I wanted to buy a Winnie the Pooh lollipop made in China. But a friend pointed out that if the cashier doesn’t ask if you want to buy it, you can get it for free. So tonight, the cashier didn’t ask me if I wanted to buy the Whatchamacallit, so I asked about getting it free. I don’t do this too often, but thought I’d share this Walgreens tidbit.

Paid: $6.92 cash
Saved: $60.30
Will get back: $5.99 from Easy Saver rebate
Final Cost: $0.93

TRANSACTION #2

Ecensia by SAMY White Lotus Conditioner – Free after rebate
Price: $5.99 – had a try-me-free rebate

Butterball Chicken Broth (10) – $0.69 each
Coupon: Walgreens weekly ad coupon
The coupon is limit 3 but this is only if the cashier enforces it. I purchased 10 in this transaction and 3 in the next transaction.
Promo: Buy $10 worth of qualifying ConAgra foods, get $5 back.
Total cost after rebate: $0.30 per can

Coffee-Mate Liquid Creamer 16oz. (2) – Free after coupons
Coupon: Two $1.50 Internet Printables.

Paid: $2.38 cash and $10 Register Reward
Saved: $18.09
Will get back: $5.00 from Easy Saver rebate for broth and $5.99 for Samy Conditioner rebate
Final Cost: $1.39

TRANSACTION #3

Butterball Chicken Broth (3) – $0.69 each
Coupon: Walgreens weekly ad coupon
Promo: Buy $10 worth of qualifying ConAgra foods, get $5 back.
Total cost after rebate: $0.30 per can

Paid: $2.07 cash
Saved: $.30
Total Final Cost: $2.07
