Kroger Deals (Dallas / Fort Worth) – 8/12-8/18

In case you missed it, on Saturday, August 15, Kroger will double coupons with values from $0.40 to $1.00 for one like item per transaction!

I will publish two posts for Kroger this week. This post covers the items in this week’s ad. The second will cover other deals you can get in the store on August 15. I walked through my Dallas-area Kroger store tonight and noted several items that may be good deals, but I need to put together the match-ups. Once those are ready, I’ll create the second post and link it from here.

If you want to get a head start, check out the great list at Hot Coupon World (HCW). Most of my additional match-ups will be for items I use regularly as well as items that caught my eye. Several people have contributed to the HCW so it will be more comprehensive.

Please note: Two readers mentioned some things to keep in mind:
1. Tasha commented that the printables often read “do not double or triple” (DND/DNT). I am only listing coupons that do not mention DND/DNT on them.
2. Michelle mentioned her Kroger will not accept Internet printables. I’ve read various comments about what will and won’t be accepted, so be sure to ask your store before you start shopping to avoid wasting your time. If the person you speak with sounds unsure, ask for a manager.

Here are the best deals I see in the Kroger ad this week:

My Walgreens Trip – 8/2

I purchased almost $45 worth of products for $0.50 (after rebate & RRs) at Walgreens yesterday.

Here’s what I got:

Special K Cereal (2) – $2.00 each
Keebler Club Crackers (2) – $1.00 each
Rice Krispies Treats 8 ct (6) – $1.50 each

* I received $7 RR and will get $10 from Kellogg’s Fuel for School rebate promo, making this a $2 moneymaker. See coupon details in the Walgreens Deals post.

Vitamin Conditioner (1) – $3.49 (found in the clearance endcap)
*received a $3.99 RR

Adult Aqua Shoes – $2.49 (summer clearance)

Jell-O Gelatin (2) – $0.25 each
See coupon details in the Walgreens Deals post

The Kellogg’s rebate and Vitamin Conditioner RR overage paid for the Aqua Shoes, so I will only be paying for the two boxes of Jell-O!

Walgreens Deals for 8/2-8/8

There are many good deals at Walgreens this week. You could start with the Suave Deodorant, Gum Toothbrush and Vitamin Shampoo as one transaction and then go back (or go to another store) and use the Register Rewards to pay for the Kellogg’s scenario to keep your out of pocket costs to a minimum.

Be sure to also check the summer seasonal items section (swimming, outdoor toys) for 75% off clearance.

KELLOGG’S FUEL FOR SCHOOL

If you haven’t already purchased your 10 items for the Kellogg’s Fuel for School Rebate, I found a scenario at Walgreens where you can get $7.00 in RR and the $10.00 rebate check from Kellogg’s, and only spend $15. Note: you must purchase all 10 items in one transaction.

Here’s how:

1. Get $5.00 RR when you purchase:

Rice Krispies Treats – buy 6, pay $9.00 total, after coupons
Price: $2.00 each
Coupon: Use three $1.00/2 – Kellogg’s Coupon Insert in 8/2 paper
* You can buy Pop-Tarts instead (or do a combo). Use the $1.00/2 Pop-Tarts coupon from the Kellogg’s coupon insert (8/2).

Cheez-Its (4.5 oz) and/or Keebler Cookies or Crackers (5.25 oz – 6 oz) – buy 2, pay $2.00
Price: $1.00 each
Coupons are for the larger size. This seems to be the cheapest “filler” to get to 10 items.

2. Get $2.00 RR, when you purchase:

Special K Cereal, Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes or Raisin Bran – buy 2, pay $4.00, after coupons
Price: 2/$5.00
Coupon: $1.00/2 – Kellogg’s Coupon Insert in 8/2 newspaper

3. Submit the 10 UPCs to Kellogg’s by 9/30/09 and receive a $10.00 rebate check by mail for a $2.00 moneymaker!

Promotion details and a list of qualifying products for the Kellogg’s Fuel for School promotion can be found in the 8/2 Kelloggs insert or online (sign in to view details).

There are probably other good scenarios with this deal. I really need the Rice Krispies treats so I’m focusing on those. If you’ve found another scenario, please leave a comment with a link to your scenario.

My Walgreens Trip (7/31)

I stopped by Walgreens to get Photo Stamps ($6.11 each) and found two in the photo department (more on my experience creating stamps can be found toward the end of this post). I also picked up a Petquarium with two fish ($1.69) and 15 packages of stickers for my daughter’s birthday party favor bags ($0.30 each).

I then went to another Walgreens to kill some time before my daughter got out of camp and found that the pool and summer/seasonal items were 75% off! They were just starting to mark everything so when I checked out, the prices rang up incorrectly. Once that was straightened out, I was able to use the 15% off coupon to purchase a bunch of toys.

Spent: $15.08
Saved: $54.29

I got:

20″ Swim Ring – $0.49
Water Squirter – $0.49
Float Lounge – $3.18
Table Top Ping Pong game – $1.27 (because I need another distraction at work)
Dive Sticks – $0.84
Floating Bubble Chair – $2.12
Kid’s Baseball Glove and Ball (pink) – $1.27
Slalom Pool Hoops – $4.41

Photo Stamps
I purchased two boxes and went through the process of ordering stamps when I got home. Here’s what I did:

1) Installed the CD and found you really don’t need it. They would have been better off using gift cards you can scratch off.
2) Went to UPromise and searched for Photostamps.com. Clicked the link in case and read the fine print – no $8 is credited unless you spend money. I noted the free shipping code.
3) Uploaded a photo at Photostamps.com and designed the stamp.
4) Entered the code from the Photostamps CD package and the free shipping code from UPromise.
5) Checked out – no credit card required!

I tried again with my second box. I realized that the first box included the shipping & handling charges (I missed the “free shipping” mention on the front of the box) so I had a credit of $2.99 from using the free s&h code. I got a bit confused because the site shows the s&h options unless you enter the free code from UPromise, and I thought I was going to be charged for it.

I read through the comments at Common Sense with Money and Mercedes said that people are getting the $8 credited to their UPromise accounts. We’ll see if it comes through. Someone else suggested going through MyPoints, which would be a great alternative if they’ll really credit 1000 points to the account!

The Coupon High left a comment on on this previous post that you can also get $8 cash back through Coupon Cactus. You need $10 in your account to get the cash back, so you’d need to do two boxes of Photo Stamps.

This deal seems way too good to be true so I’m not going to count on getting cash back without spending any money in the transaction, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Here’s the breakdown:
$6.11 x 2 packages + $1.01 (tax on two boxes) = $13.23/40 stamps = ~$0.33 per stamp (a savings of ~ $0.11 per stamp)

Photo Stamps at Walgreens + 15% off coupon

In case you didn’t see this posted elsewhere, I thought I’d mention it.

Walgreens has the Stamps.com Photo Stamps on clearance for around $7.19 and you get $8.80 worth of stamps that you can personalize with artwork or photos!

There are two additional items that make this deal even sweeter:

1) Use the 15% off coupon good at Walgreens today only (7/31). Be sure to sign up at Walgreens.com to receive these coupons directly in the future.

2) If you’re a member of UPromise, you get $8.00 for each PhotoStamps.com transaction. I don’t know if this includes when you use a gift code, but it wouldn’t hurt to try.

The Coupon High mentioned in a comment below that you can use Coupon Cactus to get $8.00 cash back (you need $10 in your account to cash out). She says it works like the UPromise deal.

The price of the Photo Stamps may vary by store as not all Dallas stores had them on clearance.

Thanks to Mercedes at Common Sense with Money for posting this.
Check out her two posts here and here about deals at Walgreens where you can use the 15% coupon today.
